Within 5 miles, you will find Logan Botanic Garden & salad bar tearoom, Logan House Gardens, Ardwall Gardens, Castle Kennedy Gardens (Lochinch Castle - Home of the Earl of Stair) and Glenwhan Gardens. You will also fine Port Logan  which was the location for the BBC drama 2000 Acres of Skye and home to the Logan Fish Pond (where you can feed the fish), there are also numerous unspoilt beaches.

Further on down the road is the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, which is open to the public in high season. Gallie Craig tearoom and the RSPB reserve and visitor centre, all located at the Mull of Galloway, the most southerly point in Scotland.

Another worthwhile day out would be a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Portpatrick with it's friendly pubs, restaurants and craft shops, putting green, charter boats and cliff top walks.This is also the start of the Southern Upland Way and home to two golf courses, Dunskey Gardens and Tearoom.

Stranraer is the local town with a good selection of Supermarkets, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. This is also the location of the Ryan Centre indoor swimming pool and Agnew Park childrens outdoor play area on the shore of Loch Ryan, just fantastic for self catering family holidays.

Stranraer is the main port from Ireland to Scotland and you could take a day trip on the Stena HSS high speed shuttle to Belfast.
